Ride Captain: Pyro (0413 905 141) SATURDAY 17th March: Meeting at BP Caboolture Northbound (one of the "Twin BP's" on the Bruce Highway, about 4km before the Caboolture and Bribie Island turnoff) at 8.30 am for a 9.00 am departure - Peachester - Kenilworth (break) - Gympie (fuel & break) - Kilkivan (lunch) - Kingaroy (overnight). Total distance for Saturday is about 370 km. Stay overnight at the Pepper Tree Cabins (7 Evelyn Street Kingaroy. Phone 07 4162 8008). Their cabins are air conditioned, and have ensuites. Cost is $105.00 per cabin. We'll take a courtesy bus up to the local Kingaroy RSL where we'll have tea. SUNDAY 18th March: The ride home is straightforward from Kingaroy - Tarong - Coomba Falls - Pimpimbudgee - Crows Nest - Hampton - Esk - Fernvale - Blacksoil - Home. Total distance for Sunday is about 220 km. |

The Vietnam Veterans and Veterans MC are having their Anzac Day Dawn Service around their Cenotaph in the grounds of their bunker at 132 Meakin Road, Kingston.
As we've done on Anzac Day for the last couple of years, Steel Horses will be attending as a group and riding to the bunker together as a group. The service starts at 5:30 AM, and they are locking the entry gates at 5.15 AM sharp. So we can’t be late! All Steel Horses members are to meet at McDonalds at Calamvale (678 Compton Road, Calamvale) at 4.30 AM (or earlier if you want coffee and such). We will leave McDonalds at 4.45 AM and ride off to the bunker. The Vietnam Veterans and Veterans MC's Anzac Day Dawn Service is a very moving event, and one that definitely shouldn't be missed. During the service, Steiny will be laying a wreath on their Cenotaph on behalf of our club. After the ceremony, we will be riding back to Steiny's place for a BBQ breakfast. The club will be providing all the food, etc. See you there! |

The event leaves at 10:30am. Be there by at least 9:30am to give you time to register, collect your patch, raffle ticket, coffee, and B&E roll (that your ticket price pays for). You can also register online (recommended). Finishes at the Royal Mail Hotel - Brisbane Terrace, Goodna. There is a $25 registration fee (plus optional $15.00 pillion fee if applicable), which includes a patch, coffee, bacon & egg roll, raffle tickets, and entry into the Show 'n Shine at the Royal Mail Hotel at the end of the ride. Staged at the Cleveland Showgrounds: Long Street, Cleveland, Brisbane. Club Laverda is once again putting on its Concours show. This is an excellent annual event that's now in its 30th year!! It has been presented by Club Laverda since 1988. Click HERE for the Laverda Concours 2018 brochure/poster. Once again, Steel Horses will have a strong presence there, complete with our big marquee (and BBQ), promoting our club to potential new members. As well, it's a great day out for all our existing members! Click HERE to see a couple of photos taken at the Steel Horses display at the Laverda Concours last year (2017). This is a pretty big event, and very big crowds usually attend. The Laverda Concours attracts large numbers of motorcycle trade stalls, numerous motorcycle enthusiast club displays (including Steel Horses), and motorcycle enthusiasts both local and interstate. There's plenty of free parking for motorcycles. Entertainment includes a wide variety of food vendors, free face painting, kiddie’s rides, etc. Admission is free to children aged 15 years and under, and $10 for all other patrons. Admission includes on-site motorcycle parking. (An additional $10.00 entry fee applies to enthusiasts wishing to enter their machines for judging and trophies.) There are 60 trophies and $2,000 prize money for the best machine entered on the day! The show is open from 8am and trophy presentation is usually about 2.30pm. Proceeds on the day go towards raising money for Club Laverda's chosen charity, the Make A Wish Foundation. Over the past 13 years Club Laverda has given some $85,000 to this worthy charity. It should be a great day! |

CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!
A long-running annual event for our club, and a great weekend away! Meeting point will be MacDonalds Beaudesert (114 Brisbane Street, Beaudesert). This MacDonald's is open 24/7, so you can have breakfast, and/or a hot cup of coffee, while waiting for the ride to start at 8:00am. DEPARTURE TIME IS 8:00AM SHARP. Have a full tank of fuel when you arrive at MacDonalds Beaudesert. Just down the street from MacDonalds is the Caltex South servo at 2 Telemon St, Beaudesert where you can fill up with gas. It will be a 5.5 hour run to our destination: the Bowra Hotel (33 High Street, Bowraville, NSW) in Bowraville. The Bowra Hotel (established in 1912) is a landmark in the Nambucca Valley, renowned for its enviable reputation with tourists and locals alike and for providing warm, traditional service in a cosy heritage bar. Voodoo Punch, the band that played for us last year, will be on again this year. Total cost will be only $80. This includes the $20 subsidy for the band, your accommodation on Saturday night, a full-on 'Christmas' dinner on Saturday night, and breakfast on Sunday morning. Boots (0434 748 404) requires a $40 holding deposit NOW, which he asks that you pay as soon as possible. Room bookings will be on a first-in best-dressed policy. As in previous years the deposit is non-refundable (and will be put on the bar for attendees on behalf of anyone pulls out). THE 2018 STEEL HORSES ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING This year the Steel Horses AGM is going to be held on Saturday night 15th September 2018 at the Hotel Radnor in Blackbutt (160km northwest of Brisbane) (a town famous for it’s Eucalyptus Pilularis or Blackbutt tree). The Blackbutt Pub (originally called The Grand; but renamed to Hotel Radnor in 1935 after the then-owner's dog!!) was established over 100 years ago. Recently refurbished, it's most definitely a biker-friendly pub (the owner is a biker himself), with excellent, clean, low-cost accommodation, and awesome meals. Click here for a collage of photos taken recently at the Blackbutt Pub. Overflow accommodation will be at the Blackbutt Motel (which is almost right next door to the pub). The ride will start at the usual North Ride departure point - Caltex Carseldine Roadhouse. First stop will be at Wamuran - Lunch at the Maleny Hotel . We will be going to Blackbutt through Woodford with a fuel stop at Kilcoy Approximatley 210km. Although this is a South Ride Sunday, Pyro (0413 905 141) has arranged a ride in the morning for those who would like to go for a run before the Christmas Party: The ride will begin at the North meeting point Caltex Carseldine Roadhouse (departing at the usual time - 9:00am) - Narangba - Wamuran - Mount Mee lookout (bum rest) - Dayboro - Mount Glorious - and then to White Cedar Park. Total distance about 165km, arriving at White Cedar Park around 12:00 Noon for the Steel Horses Christmas Party. Alternatively, you can ride/drive direct to the location of our Christmas party. It starts at midday ... The Steel Horses Christmas Party is being held at White Cedar Park on Northbrook Parkway, on the west side of Mount Glorious, just before the D'aguilar State Forest. It's exactly 15.6 km down the far side of Mount Glorious from Hugh's Mount Glorious Cafe (which most of us know well). White Cedar Park has toilet amenities, big shelters, etc. As well, we'll be erecting our big Steel Horses club marquee, and we'll be using our own club BBQ systems.
