Sun	12	South	For today's ride, our enterprising Ride Captain has decided to devise a "cornivorious" route. There is a bit of double tracking involved here, but they are bloody lovely roads and no one is likely to complain, and there are certainly plenty of corners. Riders will be guaranteed plenty of opportunity to "do their thing"! This is the plan: BP Servo at Yatala - Tamborine Village - Mundoolun Connection Road to Canungra - over the top - turn right into Clagirab Road - Advancetown Pub (break) - back up Clagiraba Road - right then left into Henry Roberts Drive - to the top - down the Goat Track Road to Canungra Pub (lunch) - back up the Goat Track Road - Tamborine Mountain - Bearded Dragon Hotel - turn left then right into Mundoolan Road - on to Shell servo on Mount Lindesay Highway - right then left into Camp Cable Road - on to Logan Village Pub for our goodbyes. Sat&Sun	25&26	North	A WEEKEND AWAY! NB: DEPARTURE TIME IS 8:00am (NOT the usual 9:00am)! SATURDAY: Caltex Carseldine Roadhouse - Peachester - Kenilworth (break) - Gympie (fuel & break) - Kilkivan (lunch) - Kingaroy (overnight). Total distance for Saturday is about 370 km. Stay overnight at the Pepper Tree Cabins (7 Evelyn Street Kingaroy. Phone 07 4162 8008). Their cabins are air conditioned, and have ensuites. Cost is $105.00 per cabin. We'll take a courtesy bus up to the local Kingaroy RSL where we'll have tea. SUNDAY: The ride home is straightforward from Kingaroy - Nanango - Yarraman - Kilcoy - Fernvale - Blacksoil - Home. Total distance for Sunday is about 220 km.

APRIL 2017

Sun	2	South	RIDER'S CHOICE! Today is a "Rider's Choice" event. Start at the usual South Ride meeting point at the BP Servo at Yatala - down Terranora Road to the Tumbulgum Tavern for a break - we go through Kingscliff - then on to Cabarita - and Condong - stop for another break at the biker-friendly Moo Moo Cafe at Mooball (to have a look at their "motorcycle museum" and a photo shoot with their "Big Bike") (see some photos of Princess near their "Big Bike" here) - arrive at the Billinudgel Hotel about noon for lunch (see some of their great burgers here!) - and finally our goodbye stop is at McDonald's Coomera. About 250km.

Sun	16	North EASTER SUNDAY	Caltex Carseldine Roadhouse - - over Clear Mountain - Kurwongbah - Morayfield - Wamuran (for our first stop) - Peachester - Bald Knob Road to Landsborough - back down to Peachester again - lunch at the Ace's Place Cafe at 24 Coochin Street in Peachester - Woodford - Kilcoy (fuel stop at Kilcoy 195km) - Fernvale - finish at Blacksoil. Total ride length to Blacksoil is approx. 290km The reason for lunch at Peachester is for those who wish to call it a day can turn right and head back to Steve Irwin Way and the freeway for home. Those who wish to continue to the end of the ride: we turn left.

Tues	25	Anzac Day Dawn Service at the VV&VMC bunker.	The Vietnam Veterans and Veterans MC are having an Anzac Day Dawn Service around their Cenotaph in the grounds of their bunker at 132 Meakin Road, Kingston. As we've done on Anzac Day for the last couple of years, Steel Horses will be attending (as a group). The service starts at 5:30 AM, and they are locking the entry gates at 5.15 AM sharp. So we can’t be late! Steel Horses members are to meet at McDonalds at Calamvale (678 Compton Road, Calamvale) at 4.30 AM (or earlier if you want coffee and such). We will leave McDonalds at 4.45 AM and ride off to the bunker. The Vietnam Veterans and Veterans MC's Anzac Day Dawn Service is a very moving event, and one that definitely shouldn't be missed. During the service, Steiny will be laying a wreath on their Cenotaph on behalf of our club. FOR CLUB MEMBERS ONLY: After the ceremony, we will be riding back to Steiny's place for a BBQ breakfast. The club will be providing all the food, etc. See you there!
Sun	30	POKER RUN	THE FAMOUS STEEL HORSES POKER RUN!! Meet at the regular West Ride meeting point: McDonalds Goodna. 1st roll is at McDonalds Goodna 2nd stop: Fernvale 3rd stop: Esk 4th stop: Hampton 5th stop & final roll: Murphys Creek Pub. (We'll have lunch here too.) Cost is $5.00 per hand. Great Prizes for the winners!!

Sun	3	West	Leave McDonalds Goodna at 9.00am travel to the Tenthill Hotel for a break via back roads though Walloon, Grandchester and Laidley. SATURDAY EVENING	9	BBQ's & FIRES!!	The inaugural Steel Horses "FIRE PIT NIGHT"! Sit around a classic campfire/fire pit this evening with your Steel Horses mates. Fantastic! Nothing fancy, just good company and a warm fire. What an awesome way to pass the evening. 6:00 PM kickoff. BYO Meat, salads, alcohol, marshmallows, and anything else you think you might need. Pyro and Phoenix are supplying the BBQ and Fire Pit. BYO fold-up chairs to use while sitting around the fire! There is ample parking for bikes/cars off street. THIS is what can sometimes happen at these events; but don't be alarmed!! :-)
Sun	10	North to the Obi Obi Bike Show !!	Caltex Carseldine Roadhouse - Woodford (bum break) - Ride straight to the Obi Obi Hall for the Bike Festival/Show (Facebook link here) and lunch (probably stay there for a few hours depending on interest levels) - head home via Mapleton - Landsborough - Bald Knob - Twin BP's on the highway for our goodbyes.
Sat-Sun	16-17	North to Rainbow Beach	WEEKEND AWAY TO RAINBOW BEACH. An "unofficial" weekend away travelling north to Rainbow Beach. All members are welcome! It isn't a very long ride, and we should get there about 3-ish.

For those who want to go home via Mount Glorious, follow me, or home via Fernvale and the highway. Total ride klms from Castledine to T-Intersection = 327 klms. Sun	12	LAVERDA CONCOURS at Cleveland, Brisbane.	LAVERDA CONCOURS NOTE: This event was originally scheduled to be held last month on Sunday October 15th 2017; but bad weather caused that to be cancelled. It was re-scheduled to TODAY. Staged at the Cleveland Showgrounds: Long Street, Cleveland, Brisbane. Club Laverda is once again putting on its Concours show. This is an excellent annual event that's now in its 29th year!! Click HERE for the Laverda Concours 2017 brochure/poster. Once again, Steel Horses will have a strong presence there, complete with our big marquee (and BBQ), promoting our club to potential new members. As well, it's a great day out for all our existing members! Click HERE to see some photos of the Steel Horses display at the Laverda Concours in 2015. This is a pretty big event, and about 8000 people usually attend. The Laverda Concours attracts large numbers of motorcycle trade stalls, numerous motorcycle enthusiast club displays (including Steel Horses), and motorcycle enthusiasts both local and interstate. There's plenty of free parking for motorcycles. Entertainment includes a wide variety of food vendors, free face painting, kiddie’s rides, and live music provided by the popular local act, The Dave Ritter Band. Admission is free to children under the age of 15 years and $10 for all other patrons. Admission includes on-site motorcycle parking. It should be a great day!

Tues	21	MEETING	Lord Stanley Hotel. 994 Stanley Street East, East Brisbane. The meeting proper starts at 7.30pm; but come earlier for dinner!
Sat & Sun	25 & 26	QLD ELECTION WEEKEND AWAY!!	QUEENSLAND STATE ELECTION WEEKEND AWAY! On the 25th November there is a Queensland State Election; but do not stay in town to vote! Instead, come for weekend away to Tenterfield! There are plenty of pre-polling voting locations in Brisbane where you can easily vote early during the week before you go (or alternatively arrange a postal vote). Saturday 25th November: McDonalds Goodna at 8:00am for an early start - Aratula (break) - Warwick - Stanthorpe - Tenterfield. Saturday's ride to Tenterfield is about 260km from Goodna. Saturday night 25th November: We plan to stay at the Royal Hotel where the rooms have been renovated. The rooms are $105.00 for a queen and $115.00 for twin share. Option two: there is also the Tally Ho Motor Inn - it says there is a restaurant on site and the rooms look great and the price is good to. There is a Chinese restaurant around the corner where we will have dinner. While in Tenterfield you can listen to the town's famous song, written and sung by Tenterfield's most famous former resident: The Tenterfield Saddler by Peter Allen. Sunday 26th November: Tenterfield - travel along the Bruxner Highway to Drake (breakfast at the Lunatic Hotel) - Casino - Kyogle - Mount Warning Hotel at Uki (lunch) - Numinbah Valley - Advancetown - Home. Sunday's ride home will be approximately 350km. It will be a gentle ride both days, with plenty of stops, and good roads, so as they say be there or be square.

DECEMBER 2017

Sun	3	CHRISTMAS PARTY!	THE STEEL HORSES CHRISTMAS PARTY! OUR CHRISTMAS PARTY IS GOING TO BE ON REGARDLESS OF THE WEATHER!! HAIL, RAIN OR SHINE, IT'S ON!! WE'RE GOING TO COMMANDEER A VERY LARGE PERGOLA THAT'S AT THE PARK, SO THE WEATHER WILL NOT WORRY US AT ALL. Because this is a North Ride Sunday, Pyro (0413 905 141) has arranged a ride in the morning for those who would like to go for a run before the Christmas Party: Caltex Carseldine Roadhouse (departing at the usual time - 9:00am) - Narangba - Wamuran - Mount Mee lookout (bum rest) - Dayboro - Mount Glorious - and then to White Cedar Park. Total distance about 165km, arriving at White Cedar Park around 12:00 Noon for the Steel Horses Christmas Party. Alternatively, you can ride/drive direct to the location of our Christmas party. It starts at midday ... The Steel Horses Christmas Party is being held at White Cedar Park on Northbrook Parkway, on the west side of Mount Glorious, just before the D'aguilar State Forest. It's exactly 15.6 km down the far side of Mount Glorious from Hugh's Mount Glorious Cafe (which most of us know well). White Cedar Park has toilet amenities, big shelters, etc. As well, we'll be erecting our big Steel Horses club marquee, and we'll be using our own club BBQ systems.
